New Student Trustees Introduced

At the May 9th Board Advisory Committee meeting, Chair Ellen Chambers introduced the two incoming student trustees for the 2023-2025 term.

Morgann De Franceschi, Grade 10 student at Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute, was introduced as the incoming student trustee, and Emily Drake, Grade 10 student at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute was introduced as the incoming Indigenous student trustee.

Morgann De Franceschi brings school and community experience to her role as student trustee. Her school activities include being a member of the Student Kindness Group, Student Council, Special Olympics Unified Athlete, and Peer Mediation.

Emily Drake participates in her school community by being a member of SAC, being in the model UN and debate clubs, and playing basketball and golf. Emily has also volunteered at school for Relay for Life and has created pottery for Indigenous Language Day. Emily has also developed and led Indigenous learning sessions for elementary students.

Both incoming student trustees will officially begin their duties on August 1, 2023. The Board will wish current student trustee Mehar Mago and Indigenous student trustee Alexa Sagutcheway well on their future endeavours in June.
